Who are you and what do you do? Hi, my name is Evgenia Chuvardina. I’m an illustrator and graphic designer. Originally, I‘m from Russia where I graduated from the Academy of Arts.

Current city: Düsseldorf, Germany

How did you make these? I make almost everything digital, on my Wacom and Adobe Photoshop. The iPad is very useful while traveling, too. Also, I draw on paper or other surfaces. I like traditional tools and materials: brush, pencil, paper, paint, canvas, ink. It’s an influence of Russian classical art education; artists and designers have to learn how to draw in a classical way in Russia. On the other hand, I saw new opportunities in digital when I worked as a graphic designer.

Why did you make these? Since I was a child I loved drawing. Then I went to a children art school. After that, to the Academy of Arts where I studied a graphic design. So, I can say that art is my life. I always liked the pop art and how it has influenced the culture and everyday life of 20th century, all these colours and images that we can find around us. Mostly I use food as a symbol in my artworks. It is definitely an influence of pop art, of Andy Warhol’s tomato soup. We can’t beat the food industry in informational impact and colours, so what can be more “pop” than that?

What do people typically say about your work? So pop, so bright.
