Now On View celebrates and showcases the artists of Society6 and their work. Get to know them and get lost in their gallery.
As a way of introducing yourself, who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Linas Vaitonis. I certainly don’t have the classical art school background because, technically, I’m an ecologist. I started taking pictures just for fun.
Current city: Vilnius, Lithuania.
How did you make these?
Basically, I just use my camera and some lighting most of the time. My gut tells me what looks great. Locating what is exactly beautiful is always a challenge, but the biggest difficulty I encounter while creating my pictures is making sure the final images are just like I imagined them in my head.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Ryan McGinley was my first inspiration in photography, I guess. Today, there are too many to mention. I also try to get inspired by a variety of sources, like books, cartoons, illustrations and cinema; you name it.
What is the best advice you’ve gotten as an artist or the most important thing you’ve learned?
I’d say, to project your own feelings and energy into your work. In general, I just try taking pictures that look really cool.
