The April artist playlist is here! Each month we’re asking one music-loving artist to create a custom playlist of their favorite songs.

This month, Tessa Forrest of Subliming.jpg aka Subliming created a fun and funky playlist for us. Press play and enjoy as you create, cook, or dance around your house — your pick! Enjoy and check out our chat below.

Introduce yourself and your work!

My name is Tessa Forrest and I’m a graphic artist with a project called Subliming.jpg

Could you tell us about the playlist you put together?

These are the songs I’ve been listening to pretty obsessively for the past month or so. I would say this is such a great playlist to work to with headphones on. There’s a great mix of electronic, a little more of an R&B vibe, some indie, and a little rap. It’s a mix of everything.

What song or artist do you have on repeat recently?

“Reminders” by Mariah the Scientist. It is so unique and funky and good and just a song you really want to sing along to.

If your art were a music genre, what would it be?

Ooh, alternative electronic. Like James Blake/Jamie xx/Toro y moi vibes.

How do you describe your musical taste?

I love things that make me feel something, something with melody and rhythm but something not too predictable. I really love a blend of sounds, when something is really layered and sort of mystical. I’m really into hybrid types of music. Like acoustics with electronic, or electronic with rap, etc.

What part does music play in your creative process?

Everything. I can’t design and get into a flow if I’m not listening to music. I absolutely have to be listening to something.
