The holiday prep guide returns just in time for peak season!

For the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing some of the most important things you can do as an artist to get ready for the biggest shopping season of the year. This week, we’ll talk about the steps you can take to get your shop in selling shape.

1. Update Your Avatar, Banner and Bio

To your customers, your artist shop is an extension of yourself. Adding an avatar and banner helps to show off more of your style on your shop page and build trust in customers which ultimately encourages them to make a purchase. Artist shops see meaningful traffic from customers and this is an important place to put your best foot forward.

Similarly, your artist bio is about connecting with your customers and giving them a window into who you are. Our most successful artists often have well-written bio’s that act as a powerful tool for turning their biggest fans into repeat customers. Help your customers feel confident in their purchases by having a shop page that’s inviting and personalized.

2. Adjust Your Default Shop Settings

You have control of the department or specific product customers see when they first land on your storefront. You can also select whether to display popular, new or random designs. This feature is very useful for sharing any of your best selling products or holiday specific items first. Consider making updates to this in order to align your shop with current promotions we have running on the site or to align with seasonal shopping habits. You can keep up with our weekly promotional schedule here.

3. Enable Giftable and Seasonal Products

Don’t forget to enable our most giftable products for all of your shoppers’ holiday needs! From mugs to yoga mats to wrapping paper, there really are options for everyone. If you’re not sure of which products to enable, check out our gift guides for some inspiration!

4. Create Holiday Inspired Collections

Collections are one of our favorite, tried-and-true ways of sharing and celebrating artwork. Making your own collections is the perfect way to help your customers narrow down their choice.  People (in general) want to be told what to buy. Collections are a great way to put together gift guides, which are a helpful sharing tool for the holidays.

The key here is to pick a theme for your collection and stay consistent. We’ve refreshed our entire collections feature this year and now it’s easier than ever for customers to add items from your collections to their carts. In case you missed it, learn all about creating collections and more here.

5. Set Your Prices

Maximize your earnings this holiday season by setting the markup you wish to earn. When figuring out your pricing strategy, take a look at the prices set by artists who create work that is similar to yours. You can always fine-tune pricing along the way, but knowing what the general market value of your artwork will help you identify and set competitive prices.

We’ll be running our best sales throughout the rest of the month, so be sure to double check the prices you’ve set on your products to make sure you’re earning what you deserve while offering reasonable prices! For more tips on pricing your products, check out our blog post here.
