Our wall murals are almost too good to be true.
They give any space an instant floor-to-ceiling makeover, are removable (aka rental-friendly) and, believe it or not, are super easy to hang. We’ve seen wall murals grow to be one of the biggest decor trends this season, which is all the more reason to get acquainted. Here, interior designer Caroline Lee shows us how to install a wall mural in five simple steps.
What You’ll Need
- Step ladder
- Pencil
- Level
- A friend to help!
- Wallpaper smoothing tool
Step 1: Lay wall mural on the floor.
Step 2: Mark with a pencil where you’d like to hang the first panel.
Pro Tip: Use a level to make sure the panel is totally straight. The way you put your first panel up will determine whether the rest of the panels are straight.
Step 3: Remove the backing and align along pre-measured line.
Pro Tip: Have your friend slowly peel the backing from the panel as you go.
Step 4: Use a wallpaper smoothing tool (or a credit card!) to get rid of air bubbles.
Step 5: Repeat the process for each panel.
Pro Tip: Choose a wall with as few obstructions as possible. If you do want to hang your wall mural on a wall that has windows or outlets on it, measure twice before cutting anything.
