As a way of introducing yourself, who are you and what do you do?

My name is Sean Ramsey and I’m a full time weather, landscape and nature photographer who chases storms, hikes and travels quite a bit.

Current city: Yukon, Oklahoma

How did you make these?

Each year I travel thousands of miles chasing storms to try and catch the perfect photograph, many times under extreme weather conditions. When I’m not chasing, I’m traveling the U.S. to different locations capturing landscapes and other interesting things along the way.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I’ve faced a few challenges in life where I’ve had to look deep within and find a way to feel good about things when it was pretty hard to do. I’ve channeled that feeling into what I see through the lens, i.e. finding beauty in powerful storms or warmth and comfort in old places long forgotten. If I’m looking at a certain scene and I feel it, then it usually translates in my photography.

What is the best advice you’ve gotten as an artist or the most important thing you’ve learned?

Being self-taught, there isn’t much advice I’ve received along the way. But, the most important thing I’ve learned is to do what you love to do even if it doesn’t generate revenue, because either two things will happen:

A) People will find you and connect with your work and it may grow into something bigger.

B) You won’t make a dime… but you’ll be doing what you love, which is priceless. It’s a win-win.
