Simply stated, Now On View celebrates and showcases the artists of Society6 and their work. Get to know them—and then get lost in their gallery.

As a way of introducing yourself, who are you and what do you do?

Hello! I’m Brunna Mancuso, a multidisciplinary artist from Brazil. I love exploring different media and supports, so I commonly experiment with new materials. I work with painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics and more recently, tattoo. My main media is watercolor—I love to work with this type of ink. I can get very sharp and flat areas but also very realistic or fluid and watery effects. It’s really interesting to explore these, sometimes conflicting, contrasts.

Current city: Sao Paulo, Brazil

How did you make these?

I use mainly watercolor, acrylics and gouache, but also some ink for my minimal artwork.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

I get my inspiration from the women in my life, my mother and sister (who is also my best friend). Powerful women I see working hard every day to get what they want. Art (painting and photography) is also an important fuel for me. I’m constantly researching painters and studying their brush strokes or how they interpreted lighting and color in their work. I love modernists painters and also 18th century Japanese woodblock prints.

What is the best advice you’ve gotten as an artist or the most important thing you’ve learned?

I think the most important thing I’ve learned is to never stop learning. Never stop being curious. It may sound silly, but when you get some attention or when you think you’ve found your “style,” you can get kind of comfortable where you are. And I’ve realized style is an aesthetic that develops and changes throughout your journey. So, you must keep experimenting freely and trying new things.
