Simply stated, Now On View celebrates and showcases the artists of Society6 and their work. Get to know them—and then get lost in their gallery.

As a way of introducing yourself, who are you and what do you do?

I’m Lorena Torrres, an Ecuadorian UX/UI designer based in Spain. I always love finding new ways of expressing myself, especially with illustration. Through the work I create, I try to convey how I see the world. That vision makes me who I am and leads the way on my path to artistic discovery and growth. I studied advertising and design in Ecuador, then fashion photography in Madrid, which allowed me to explore new cultures and creative methods.

Current city: Madrid

How did you make these?

It took me a long time to find my own style and and how I wanted to represent myself through art. I try to create intrigue by giving the viewer the opportunity to interpret their own character through hidden forms. My compositions are created by breaking down forms and portraits into shapes, lines, and colors. I started with digital illustration but now I’m exploring artwork on large canvases.

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

One of my greatest sources of inspiration is music, especially blues because similar to my artwork, there are small nuances and elements that build upon each other to create the final work. As far as other artists, I’m inspired by Basquiat and Miró. Basquiat because of his unique artistic journey and style and Miró because I love surrealism and his use of form.

What is the best advice you’ve gotten as an artist or the most important thing you’ve learned?

I have learned that passion and dedication will help you achieve anything you set your mind to. For me, illustration is a way of showing others that with perseverance, you can achieve anything you want. It just takes the will to start.

Where can people find you?
