Whether you’re a pattern enthusiast or simply looking to add a dash of creativity to your living space, her insights promise to inspire a home that feels authentically you.
Describe your design style.
I love mixing vintage-inspired elements with modern touches to create a balance between nostalgia and modern aesthetics. I’ve always had a deep love for patterns, and I make it a point to incorporate them into my work as much as possible.
Could you walk us through your top three design tips for incorporating personal elements into your home decor?
First, don’t be afraid to mix patterns! I love patterns and believe that if you find a cohesive color palette, any combination of patterns can work together beautifully. If you’re passionate about patterns like I am, embrace them boldly in your home. Focus on the tint and shade of your color palette, and try mixing patterns with similar tones for a cohesive look.
Second, if you love to be creative, find ways to incorporate your art beyond traditional prints. I used to struggle with displaying my own art at home, but this year I’m changing that. Seeing your artwork on items like rugs, welcome mats, or even kitchen accessories—such as serving trays or cutting boards—adds a deeply personal touch to your space.
Third, a great way to add a personal touch is through DIY projects. You can create various DIY projects, such as upholstering second-hand chairs with fabric—maybe even your own designs—or creating a custom headboard. These thoughtful touches can make your home feel more intimate and uniquely yours.
How do you think having a space that really feels like “you” affects how people feel at home?
When a space feels like a reflection of yourself, it creates a sense of comfort and belonging. You’re surrounded by things that represent your personality and style, so it feels like home. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about creating a space where you can feel completely yourself.
Which Society6 products are essential for creating a personalized space?
My personal favourite is my newest rug—it’s definitely the centerpiece of my living room and always sparks conversation. The tablecloth is another favorite, making the dining experience even more special. And of course, you can never go wrong with framed art prints and kitchen accessories such as serving trays and cutting boards. If I had a bigger balcony I would definitely get sling chairs and some outdoor cushions.
