As a way of introducing yourself, who are you and what do you do?
My name is Jovana Rikalo. I am a fine art and portrait photographer, working professionally for more than 7 years now. I love telling stories with photography filled with dreams. For me composition and details are very important and all elements must speak together on the final piece.
Current city: Novi Sad, Serbia.
How did you make these?
First I come up with an idea. After the realization of what I am going to shoot the next step is to find a model who fits the concept, as well as a location or setting in which to tell the story. Then I need to think about make up and hair that suits to the concept and which props I am going to use. Props speaks so much to me and it’s important to choose them very wisely. I always plan the shoot in advance so that the shoot can go smoothly and quick. I am very organized about shooting and always prepare the model and assistant on the shooting process and the whole concept.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I can find inspiration everywhere. Life, people, dreams, books, movies can inspire me. I taught myself early on to be inspired all the time. It is challenging but once you learn how everything is much easier and more interesting.
What is the best advice you’ve gotten as an artist or the most important thing you’ve learned?
To enjoy the process and not hurry. You must practice every day. After a while you will see things differently. Process is the key.
