Not sure where to start this holiday season? We’ve put together this checklist of the most important things you can do now to set your shop up for success.

Customers are shopping for holiday gifts and decor earlier than ever this year. From now until mid-December we expect to see a significant uptick in the amount of customers visiting Society6 to shop your one-of-a-kind products. This checklist is designed as your guide to the holiday season. These simple tasks can add up to big wins during the busiest shopping season of the year!

For more holiday tips, check out our 2021 Holiday Creative Brief and our Holiday Success Guide webinar hosted by the artist community team.

1. Review your shop name and artist bio.

When it comes to your shop name and artist bio the most important thing to keep in mind is how your customers will search for you. Consistency is key! Use the same name across all channels (Society6, social media, your own website, etc.). Your bio should include keywords that tell customers more about you and your shop. Read more of our tips for writing a great bio here.

2. Create a holiday marketing calendar.

This season offers a lot of great opportunities to get out there and promote yourself through social media and other marketing channels. Great holiday promos, new products, and adding new designs to your shop are all things your customers want know about. Check out our guide to building a marketing calendar here.

To help you get started think about what your customers might be looking for at different times of the month—for example, October is perfect to promote holiday home decor while November will still be the strongest month for traditional gifting. And as always, we’ll keep you in the loop with shipping deadlines as we get closer to December so that you can know which last-minute gifts to start sharing about. When in doubt, look to us and echo what we’ve got going on on-site!

Reminder: When it comes to sharing about promotions, even during our largest promos of the year, you still earn 10% on the original price of almost all products. For products where you can set your own price (and share in promotions), make sure you’re happy with the markups you’ve set. Learn more about setting markups here.

3. Add your shop link to your social media bio and website.

This might just be the most important thing you can do to ensure customers can find your shop and products. And for bonus points, make sure you’re including your custom affiliate link on any URLs that you share. Below we’ve outlined how to use your custom affiliate link. Let’s use Tristan, our Community Success Associate’s, shop as an example.

His shop link is society6.com/tristanvision. His custom affiliate link is ?curator=tristanvision.  Here’s what Tristan would share if he wanted to use his affiliate link:

Artist Shop Example:
society6.com/tristanvision?curator=tristanvision

Product Link Example:

4. Enable best-selling and popular gifting products.

Wall art is always a best-seller and will continue to be so in the coming weeks and months. Remember to promote these products on social media so that your customers know you sell them.

6. Review your design titles and tags.

Optimizing your titles and tags is the best way to help your art be found on Society6 and by search engines. There’s a few important things to keep in mind when naming and tagging your artwork.

  • Titles and tags should be well thought out and relevant to the design
  • Be unique and succinct
  • Think about how your customers would search for your product
  • Avoid generic single word titles
  • Avoid using special characters (ie. hashtags)
