Who are you and what do you do? My name is Laura O’Connor and I am a freelance illustrator and graphic designer.
Current city: Karlsruhe, Germany
Clients: No house-hold names yet! My past clients include food and wine companies, books and magazines, musicians, fashion labels and start-ups.
How did you make these? I usually start my work with a quick pencil sketch. Once I am happy with this I begin refining lines with ink pen, then use Procreate or Photoshop/Illustrator to clean up the image and make it crisp. I can then play with colors and scale easily, which is the thing I love most about digital illustration.
Why did you make these? To push my style in a new direction and have more fun in the creation process. I like to see if I can produce an aesthetic that’s both easy on the eye and nostalgia-inducing.
What do people typically say about your work? People tell me it’s cute! Fresh and minimal.
