Is your shop ready for an influx of holiday traffic?

Holiday madness is one of those rare, but reliable occasions where we recommend putting significantly more energy into selling than creating. It’s when your customers will visit your shop the most. It’s when your customers spend more money on gifts than any other time of the year.

What’s even crazier? Black Friday (Nov 24th) is less than a month away! That day usually kicks off a great promotional schedule–which we’ll share as it gets closer via your Artist Headsup emails–but should be a swift kick in the pants to play catch-up.

In other words, now is the time to wrap up anything you’ve been sitting on for a while because you’ll want to focus on promoting during peak shopping time. Maybe focus on completing unfinished designs, activating products you’ve been meaning to (like Stickers or Duffle Bags) and/or wrapping up any loose projects needing attention.

The looming holiday season is why we’ve prioritized updating your shop over thematic recommendations–although we did add a few creative prompts below.

CREATIVE BRIEF: NOVEMBER 2017

1: Upload any outstanding designs

We know it takes a minute to create so this month’s Creative Brief gives you a little more than three weeks to really wrap up anything you’ve been needing to. Once we get into Black Friday and beyond, you can expect plenty of great promos to offer your customers, which means you’ll want to make sure you’re able to focus on that (if you want). Check out these articles on setting up your shop for success.

2: Activate any outstanding products

We recently launched Stickers and Duffle Bags. Aside from those two, we recommend optimizing your products so your products look amazing when customers find their way into your shop. Check out this article on pixel dimension requirements and this one on one preparing your arfiles.

3: Always popular: Mandalas

They’re not just a beautiful way of decorating a space–these symbols of healing are one of the most sought-after artworks. It’s also a pretty meditative creative process if you’re looking to try something new.

4: Low-key popular: Crystals

The popularity of crystals has an ebb and flow we can’t ignore. We’ve noticed an uptick in uploads and requests around these chakra-aligners. Give it a go or not, but now you know!

5: Just for fun: Dreamscapes

And while we’re aligning those chakras, why not just reach a little deeper and get free with something surreal? Google defines a “dream•scape” as a landscape or scene with the strangeness or mystery characteristic of dreams. This one is purely for fun if you’re bored.
